    • Origin: Formerly the General Surgery Department.
    • Establishment: The Department of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery was officially established on June 1, 2015.
    • Infrastructure: The department is located on the 7th floor of the 21-storey building (Building Q) within Bach Mai Hospital.

    2. Functions and Missions

    Functions

    • The Department of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery at Bach Mai Hospital is responsible for organizing and performing examinations and treatments for all pathologies within the specialty of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery. It also participates in scientific research, training, and providing clinical direction (line management) for the hospital network.

    Missions

    • Organize and perform examinations and treatment for patients with orthopaedic and spine-related pathologies; provide clinical consultations for related cases.
    • Organize and implement examinations, emergency care, and treatment for patients with orthopaedic and spine conditions throughout the hospital.
    • Organize the planning, preservation, and management of medical supplies and equipment to ensure timely emergency response and patient treatment.
    • Implement and conduct scientific research in the field of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery.
    • Implement training and continuous medical education programs in Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery as required by the hospital.
    • Propose and collaborate with domestic and international organizations in the field of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery.
    • Advise and consult the Hospital Director and functional departments on activities related to Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery to enhance efficiency, safety, and the quality of medical care.
    • Manage human resources, equipment, security, and occupational safety in accordance with regulations.
    • Execute other duties assigned by Bach Mai Hospital and as prescribed by law.
