    Department Information

    1. History

    • The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was re-established in 1969 when the hospital was expanded into a comprehensive general hospital. After several structural changes, the department is currently located on the 3rd floor of Building Q, with the delivery room situated on the 3rd floor of Building P.
    • Over 55 years since its re-establishment, the department has become one of the capital's major obstetric and gynecological centers with modern facilities. Despite having only 100 beds, the department handles over 5,000 deliveries annually, of which more than 45% are pathological pregnancies or complicated births, along with thousands of gynecological cases. With support from other specialized departments within the hospital, the department has successfully saved many cases of pathological pregnancies, severe obstetric complications, and complex gynecological diseases. In 2013, the department established the Center for Assisted Reproduction, achieving significant success with high pregnancy rates and hundreds of babies born.
    • Regarding trade union activities, the staff actively participate in emulation movements organized by the Ministry of Health and the hospital. Doctors and staff often overcome difficulties to provide medical examinations and charity gifts to kindergartens, primary schools, and residents in remote mountainous provinces.
    • The department's growth and current standing are attributed to the visionary leadership of the Ministry of Health, the Party Committee, and the Hospital Board of Directors through various periods, as well as the contributions of generations of staff members.
    • The department is striving and looking forward to becoming a powerful and highly specialized Obstetrics and Gynecology Center for the entire country in the near future.
