    1. History

    • Arising from the need to serve patients at the polyclinic, treat war invalids during wartime, and train specialist staff at Bach Mai Hospital, the Dental and Maxillofacial Organization was established in 1970.
    • In 2003, the Odonto-Stomatology Department was officially separated from the inter-specialty unit consisting of Odonto-Stomatology, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), and Ophthalmology.

    3.1. Functions

    • As a specialized unit within Bach Mai Hospital—a Special-Class general hospital and the top-tier medical facility in the national healthcare system—the Odonto-Stomatology Department holds the following functions:
    • Providing emergency care, examination, and specialized treatment in Odonto-Stomatology for patients nationwide, particularly in Northern Vietnam.
      Serving as a primary training hub for medical human resources, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuous medical education (CME) for practicing doctors.
    • Executing the hospital’s general mandates, including providing technical guidance for lower-level healthcare facilities, engaging in international cooperation, and participating in pandemic prevention and control.

    A. Emergency Care, Examination, Treatment, Aesthetics, and Rehabilitation

    • Delivering emergency services, diagnostics, specialized treatments, dental aesthetics, and rehabilitation under National Health Insurance (BHYT) and on-demand services.
    • Implementing advanced and specialized techniques, including:
      • Dental Implants.
      • Maxillofacial Surgery.
      • Prosthodontics (Restorative Dentistry).
      • Orthodontics.
      • Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy).
      • Periodontics.
    • Specialized Care: Providing comprehensive treatment for patients presenting with both dental conditions and complex systemic diseases.
