    Department Information

    1. History of Establishment

    1961: The first emergency team was established.
    1978: A9 Intensive Care and Emergency Department was founded to receive critical patients nationwide.
    2001: A9 Emergency Department was officially established.
    2021: A9 Emergency Center was formed by merging the Surgical Emergency Department into the A9 Emergency Department.
    2. Organizational Structure

    The Center consists of 7 functional units:

    Emergency Units 1, 2, 3, 4.
    Observation Unit (Emergency Stay).
    Daytime Emergency Unit.
    Administrative Office.
    Human Resources: Total of 161 staff, including 29 Doctors (3 Associate Professors, 4 PhDs, 2 Level II Specialists, 16 Masters/Residency Doctors) and 117 Nurses.

    3. Functions and Missions

    Emergency Care: Receiving, triaging, and providing emergency treatment for medical and surgical cases from the community and other hospitals.
    Coordination: Working with other departments within the hospital for safe internal transfers and specialized care.
    Education & Training: Teaching and providing clinical practice for students from Hanoi Medical University, Bach Mai Medical College, etc.
    Research: Conducting scientific research and developing emergency networks to apply modern international techniques.
    4. Key Activities and Specialized Techniques

    Clinical Excellence: The center handles 80,000 - 90,000 emergency cases per year, including approximately 10,000 cardiovascular cases and 300-400 critical trauma cases.
    Advanced Techniques:

    Targeted Temperature Management (TTM/Induced Hypothermia).
    Hemodynamic monitoring.
    Dialysis and Liver dialysis.
    ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation).
    International Cooperation: A training facility for international students and residents from the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, etc.
