1994: Establishment of the Poison Control Unit under the Intensive Care and Emergency Department A9 (founded by Prof. Vu Van Dinh).
December 15, 1998: The Poison Control Department of Bach Mai Hospital was established with 10 beds, headed by Nguyen Thi Du, MD, PhD.
September 17, 2003: The Ministry of Health officially established the Poison Control Center of Bach Mai Hospital, with Prof. Nguyen Thi Du as the Director.

III. FUNCTIONS AND MISSIONS
Clinical Services: Providing emergency care, resuscitation, detoxification, and both inpatient and outpatient treatment for acute and chronic poisoning cases, as well as other internal medical conditions.
Laboratory Testing: Performing rapid, qualitative, and quantitative tests for toxins (chemicals, drugs, narcotics, and other substances), markers, and other tests to support exposure assessment, risk evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment monitoring.
Research & Development: Developing and implementing new toxicological testing procedures, including safety assessments for chemicals and substances in environmental and occupational sectors.
Training & Field Support: Conducting training and providing clinical guidance (Project 1816) in toxicology, lab testing, and emergency resuscitation.
Scientific Research: Carrying out research projects in poison prevention, toxicology, and emergency medicine.
International Cooperation: Collaborating with domestic and international organizations in the fields of toxicology and emergency care.
Communication & Consultation: Providing toxicological consultation and public health information on poison prevention through various channels for both internal and external stakeholders.
Advisory Role: Serving as a consultant to the Ministry of Health regarding poison control and toxicological testing nationwide.
Information Management: Collecting, processing, reporting, and archiving toxicological data; managing a data warehouse for poison control research.
Global Integration: Participating in regional and international toxicology associations.
