Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

1. History
The Institute has over 60 years of history, evolving alongside the hospital's radiology and diagnostic imaging services:

• 1959 - 2018: Operated as the X-ray Department, later renamed the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
• 2018: Approved by the Ministry of Health as the Radiology Centre.
• From December 30, 2025: Officially became the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology.

2. Organizational Structure and Personnel
The Institute has a total of 164 staff members (including 05 faculty members from the Department of Radiology, Hanoi Medical University):

• Physicians (65): 01 Professor, 02 Assoc. Prof. PhDs, 06 PhDs, 16 Specialist Level II/Resident Doctors, 38 Masters, and 02 Specialist Level I Doctors.
• Medical Technologists (59): 02 Masters, 23 University graduates, 34 College graduates.
• Nurses (07): 01 Master, 05 University graduates, 01 College graduate.
• Administrative & Support Staff: 01 Administrator, 01 Orderly, and 31 Medical Secretaries.

The Institute operates across 5 key areas, including the main facility in the Vietnam-Japan Building and specialized sectors in Building Q, Building P, and the Emergency Radiology area.

3. Functions and Missions

• Diagnostic & Interventional Services: Performing X-rays, Ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI, and Angiography for inpatient and outpatient care.
• Scientific Research: Conducting clinical trials and research projects at various levels (Institutional, Ministerial, and State) and transferring new techniques.
• Professional Leadership: Serving as the headquarters of the Vietnamese Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
• Training & Direction: Providing postgraduate training (Residents, Specialists, PhDs, Masters) and technical transfer to provincial/city hospitals.
• International Relations: Collaborating with experts from France, USA, Italy, Australia, South Korea, Japan, and regional countries.
• Advisory Role: Advising the Ministry of Health on the organization and operation of Radiology Departments nationwide.

3. Outstanding Achievements

• Second-class Labor Medal (2007).
• First-class Labor Medal (2015).
• Ho Chi Minh Prize in Science and Technology (2017).
• 02 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.
• First Prize for the "Dang Van Chung" Award in scientific research for two consecutive years (2021, 2022).
• Numerous Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Health and the Hospital Board of Directors.
