3. History
- Origin: Formerly the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Department, re-established in 2004 after separating from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
- 2018: Officially established as the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center (Decision No. 458/QĐ-BM).
- Growth: Over 20 years, the Center has grown into one of the largest and most prestigious hematology institutions in Vietnam, with 165 dedicated staff members.
4. Organizational Structure & Human Resources
The Center comprises 10 departments (9 professional and 1 administrative) with 165 staff members:
- Doctors: 32 (1 Professor, 2 Associate Professors, 2 PhDs, 9 Specialists Level II, 18 Masters/Specialists Level I).
- Nurses: 48 (1 Master, 22 Bachelors, 25 Associates).
- Medical Technologists & Engineers: 79 (including 2 PhDs, 13 Masters).
5. Functions and Missions
- Diagnosis & Treatment: Leading center for blood diseases, providing consultations for other specialties within the hospital.
- Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT): Successfully performed over 125 cases since 2012, offering life-saving opportunities for patients.
- Laboratory Testing: Operating under ISO 15189:2022 standards, performing over 2 million tests annually.
- Blood Bank Operations: Managing storage and distribution of over 150,000 safe blood units per year.
- Education & Research: Serving as a primary training facility for Hanoi Medical University and other medical colleges.
6. Key Clinical Highlights & Advanced Techniques
- Specialized Care: Implementation of targeted therapy, monoclonal antibodies (Bispecific), and preparation for advanced therapies like CAR-T Cell and Gene Therapy.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Leading the country in the variety of tests, including Immunofixation Electrophoresis, Genetics, coagulation factor assays, and bone marrow histology.
- Blood Supply Leadership: The largest blood distribution unit in Vietnam, ensuring a 24/7 safe blood supply even during holidays or crises.
- International Cooperation: Strong partnerships with institutions in the USA, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan for training and technology exchange.

- Labor Order: Second Class (2018) and Third Class (2013).
- Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit: 2011 and 2023.
