Bach Mai Hospital Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Chiang Mai University Faculty of Medicine, Thailand

On the morning of September 18, 2025, Bach Mai Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University (Thailand) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), opening a new chapter in academic and medical cooperation between the two institutions. The partnership aims to enhance medical education, scientific research, and healthcare services.

Strengthening Academic and Medical Collaboration
The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narain Chotirosniramit, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Chiang Mai University, along with a delegation of senior experts, physicians, and lecturers with extensive experience in trauma care, emergency medicine, human resource management, international relations, and medical education.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap, Deputy Director of the Hospital
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the A9 Emergency Center

Physicians and specialists from the A9 Emergency Center
The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bryan McNally from Emory University, who played a key role in connecting the partnership between Bach Mai Hospital and Chiang Mai University.

Expanding Opportunities for Knowledge Exchange
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Thai delegation. He highlighted the strong impressions he had gained from Chiang Mai and emphasized the great potential for cultural and professional exchange, particularly in the field of emergency medicine at the A9 Emergency Center of Bach Mai Hospital.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narain Chotirosniramit expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by Bach Mai Hospital. He stated that the signing of the MoU represents an important step in strengthening knowledge exchange, professional collaboration, and shared experience, contributing to the development of medical education, research, and healthcare services.

The visiting experts and faculty members from Chiang Mai University expressed their desire to promote student exchange programs, physician training, joint research, academic conferences, and healthcare services, committing to close collaboration for the benefit of the people of both countries.

 Building a Long-Term Strategic Partnership
Speaking on behalf of Bach Mai Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap emphasized the long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, noting that the collaboration could initially focus on emergency medicine and trauma care while gradually expanding to other medical specialties.

He also revealed that Bach Mai Hospital plans to launch an International Medical Center by the end of 2025, expressing hope that Chiang Mai University could share its advanced medical technologies and experience in international healthcare services to help deliver treatment standards aligned with global practices for Vietnamese patients.

Promoting Telehealth and Scientific Exchange
To strengthen long-term cooperation, Dr. Vu Van Giap proposed combining in-person collaboration with telehealth solutions, allowing both institutions to maintain continuous knowledge exchange and professional communication.

He also suggested organizing an annual Vietnam–Thailand scientific conference, held alternately in each country, as a platform for sharing expertise, medical technology, and research findings.

In addition, he highlighted the 33rd Bach Mai Hospital Annual Scientific Conference, scheduled for November 2025, as an important opportunity to further develop academic collaboration between the two institutions.

 Key Areas of Cooperation
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, both parties agreed to promote academic collaboration through several initiatives, including:

Exchange programs for faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students
Healthcare workforce development and professional training
Inviting visiting professors and lecturers
Conducting joint research projects
Organizing academic lectures, seminars, and workshops
Sharing research data, academic materials, and educational resources
Implementing other collaborative projects for mutual benefit
 
A New Milestone in Vietnam–Thailand Medical Cooperation
The signing ceremony concluded in a friendly and professional atmosphere, marking a new milestone in Vietnam–Thailand medical cooperation.

This partnership lays a strong foundation for future collaboration in education, research, and healthcare development, contributing to improved medical services and stronger academic connections between the two countries.
