The Growing Role of Clinical Engineers in Modern Healthcare
During the ceremony, Mr. Tadayuki Kawasaki emphasized the increasingly important role of Clinical Engineers (CEs) within healthcare systems worldwide, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when medical technology and equipment management became crucial to patient care.

He noted that many countries are actively developing training systems and professional frameworks for clinical engineers, and that Vietnam represents a promising environment for such development.

Mr. Kawasaki expressed his hope that cooperation with Bach Mai Hospital would help lay the foundation for establishing a structured training system for clinical engineers in Vietnam in the near future.

Supporting National Healthcare Development Strategies
Speaking on behalf of Bach Mai Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Tung highlighted the significance of the partnership, noting that it aligns closely with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo, which focuses on breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of public health in Vietnam.

According to Dr. Nguyen Tuan Tung, Vietnam is prioritizing the development of several critical healthcare fields that remain underdeveloped, including clinical engineering.

He also revealed that Bach Mai Hospital is currently preparing to establish the Bach Mai University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and is planning to introduce Vietnam’s first academic program dedicated to Clinical Engineering.

“Through this collaboration, we hope to train a new generation of medical equipment engineers who will serve as the core workforce for implementing Clinical Engineering education programs at Bach Mai Hospital and across Vietnam’s healthcare system,”
Dr. Nguyen Tuan Tung emphasized.

Key Areas of Cooperation
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two parties agreed to cooperate in several areas, including:

Providing consultation on establishing Clinical Engineering training programs
Supporting the development of curricula and teaching materials
Assisting in training lecturers and academic staff
Organizing professional workshops, seminars, and academic exchanges

Strengthening Vietnam–Japan Healthcare Cooperation
The signing of the MoU marks an important starting point for the development of Clinical Engineering human resources in Vietnam, contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and the advancement of medical technology.

At the same time, the partnership further strengthens the long-standing cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the healthcare sector, opening new opportunities for knowledge exchange and technological development in the future.
