Recently in Hanoi, Bach Mai Hospital held a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Inje University (Republic of Korea). The agreement opens new opportunities for comprehensive cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of medical education, scientific research, and the transfer of advanced medical technologies, contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality for the community.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of Inje University were Mr. Jeon Min-hyun, President of Inje University, along with members of the delegation representing the University’s Industry Cooperation Office, Global Project Division, and the KOSTA organization.

Representing Bach Mai Hospital were Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co, Director of the Hospital; Associate Professor Do Ngoc Son, Director of the Intensive Care Center; Associate Professor Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the A9 Emergency Center; Associate Professor Pham Cam Phuong, Director of the Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Center; Associate Professor Pham Thi Viet Dung, Head of the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery; Nguyen Thi Huong, MSc, Chief of the Hospital Office, along with representatives from the Department of Pharmacy, Nursing Department, Institute for Training and Medical Research, and other specialized units of the hospital.

The signing ceremony took place in a formal and friendly atmosphere, marking an important milestone in the sustainable partnership between Bach Mai Hospital and Inje University.

In his remarks, Mr. Jeon Min-hyun expressed appreciation for the warm reception from Bach Mai Hospital and provided an overview of the Paik Hospital System, affiliated with Inje University. The system is one of the most established and reputable hospital networks in the Republic of Korea, with strengths in cancer treatment, robotic surgery, scientific research, and international collaboration.

The President of Inje University emphasized the university’s desire to develop practical and long-term cooperation with Bach Mai Hospital in areas such as medical workforce training, faculty and student exchange, clinical research, and advanced technology transfer, particularly in liver transplantation and intensive care medicine.

Expanding Strategic Cooperation in Healthcare Development

On behalf of more than 4,500 staff members of Bach Mai Hospital, Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co warmly welcomed the delegation from Inje University and highlighted the significance of the agreement in the context of the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

He emphasized that as Vietnam’s largest tertiary general hospital, Bach Mai Hospital not only treats severe and complex cases but also serves as a national center for medical education, research, and technology transfer within the country’s healthcare system.

According to the hospital director, in the coming years Bach Mai Hospital will focus on several major development goals, including the operation of Bach Mai Hospital’s second campus and the planned establishment of a University of Medicine and Pharmacy affiliated with the hospital.

Within this framework, Bach Mai Hospital expects to strengthen collaboration with Inje University in key areas such as: Emergency and critical care medicine. Cancer diagnosis and treatment. Robotic surgery. Plastic and reconstructive surgery. Clinical pharmacy. Biomedical engineering training. Digital transformation and smart hospital development.

Toward a Sustainable Partnership
Based on mutual trust and a shared vision for development, the leaders of both institutions signed the Memorandum of Understanding covering several key areas of cooperation, including:

Exchange of researchers and teaching staff. Implementation of joint research programs. Exchange of professional information and academic resources. Participation in workshops and laboratory training programs at each institution. Operation of international research and production laboratories. Other collaborative activities agreed upon by both parties.

This collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to improving healthcare quality, training high-quality medical professionals, and strengthening the international integration of Vietnam’s healthcare sector.
