On the morning of March 4, at Hall 501, the Bach Mai Institute of Medical Training and Research held the opening ceremony for its first 2026 cohort of specialized technical training courses in medical examination and treatment. This event marked the launch of a series of continuing education programs organized by Bach Mai Hospital in the new year, aimed at enhancing professional capacity for healthcare workers nationwide.

Attending the ceremony were MSc. Vu Van Nhan, Deputy Director of the Institute; MSc. Thai Phuong Oanh; faculty members; course administrators; and 89 officially enrolled trainees.

Diverse Training Programs Closely Aligned with Practice

In his remarks, MSc. Vu Van Nhan congratulated the trainees for choosing Bach Mai Hospital as their destination for professional development. He emphasized that this year’s courses focus on advanced and essential techniques that meet the practical demands of healthcare facilities.

In cardiology, the programs include: Cardiac Doppler Echocardiography (23 trainees); and Endovenous treatment of chronic venous insufficiency using radiofrequency or laser ablation (3 trainees).

In gastroenterology, the courses cover: Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (4 trainees); Diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy (9 trainees); and Gastrointestinal endoscopy assistance (15 trainees).

In emergency and critical care, the Institute offers: Basic emergency care (5 trainees); and Emergency patient care (12 trainees).

In nephrology and dialysis, the programs include: Basic hemodialysis techniques for physicians (5 trainees); and Basic hemodialysis techniques for nurses (5 trainees).

An additional eight trainees are enrolled in other specialized technical training courses.

Hands-on Practice in a High-Pressure Environment

Speaking at the ceremony, MSc. Thai Phuong Oanh noted that Bach Mai Hospital provides a demanding yet highly valuable clinical training environment. With an average of 8,000–12,000 outpatient visits and approximately 4,500 inpatients per day, trainees will directly engage in professional workflows within the real-world setting of a leading tertiary referral hospital.

According to the Institute’s leadership, studying here goes beyond acquiring theoretical knowledge; it is also a process of strengthening professional resilience, adaptability to work pressure, and proactive engagement in a high-level clinical environment.

Commitment to Training Quality

The training programs are systematically designed, integrating theoretical instruction with hands-on, bedside teaching at specialized centers. Immediately following the opening ceremony, trainees participated in essential skills sessions, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for cardiac arrest, management of anaphylaxis, communication skills, patient safety, and infection control.

With the guidance of leading experts, these courses are expected to enable trainees to master advanced techniques and thereby improve the quality of medical examination and treatment at their home institutions upon completion of the program.
