Attending the program were Dr. Vu Thi Thu Phuong, representative of the National Standards and Quality Institute; Mr. Phan Thanh Son, representative of the Asian Productivity Organization; Dr. Sonal Desai, Head of the ESG consulting team; and MSc. Tran Anh Tuan, representative of the Certification Center (QUACERT). Representing Bach Mai Hospital were Assoc. Prof. Vu Van Giap, MD, PhD, Deputy Director of the Hospital, along with leaders and representatives from various departments and units.

Comprehensive review to identify improvement opportunities

During the working session, participants reached agreement on objectives, implementation scope, and coordination mechanisms. They also reviewed an overview report on the hospital’s current status, including infrastructure, operational processes, technical systems, human resources, and overall activities.

Based on this, the delegation conducted field assessments at key areas, focusing on energy systems, water supply and drainage, waste management, safety, and operational practices.

Following the site visits, all parties continued to review, collect, and verify relevant data and documentation to support evaluation and serve as a basis for proposing improvement solutions in the coming phase.

Advancing toward a green, safe, and sustainable hospital model

The assessment plays an important role in supporting Bach Mai Hospital’s gradual adoption and implementation of ESG principles in alignment with the characteristics of a tertiary hospital. It also provides an opportunity for a comprehensive review of current operations, helping identify priority areas for improvement toward a green, safe, patient-friendly, and sustainable hospital model.

Commitment to practical and effective ESG implementation

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Vu Van Giap emphasized that Bach Mai Hospital is committed to implementing the ESG/APO Program in a substantive, coordinated manner aligned with its sustainable development strategy.

The hospital’s priorities include building a green–clean–beautiful environment, ensuring safety for patients, their families, and healthcare workers, while improving governance quality, optimizing resource utilization, controlling waste, conserving energy, and strengthening social responsibility.

Participation in the program also offers the hospital an opportunity to learn from international experience and refine its ESG implementation roadmap in line with practical conditions, thereby contributing to improved healthcare quality and long-term sustainable development.

Through this activity, Bach Mai Hospital reaffirms its commitment to governance innovation, enhancing the hospital environment, and progressively implementing ESG criteria effectively in the coming period.
