On the morning of September 10, 2026, Prof. Greg Fox, Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Director of the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre at the University of Sydney (Australia), visited and worked at the Ninh Binh facility of Bach Mai Hospital. Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Hospital were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Tung, Deputy Directors of Bach Mai Hospital, along with the leadership of several professional departments.

Within the framework of the visit, Prof. Greg Fox toured several professional units at the Ninh Binh facility of Bach Mai Hospital, learning about the infrastructure, equipment, and capacity to deploy advanced techniques. At the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, the Professor was introduced to modern diagnostic imaging systems, including two 512-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner systems and a digital subtraction angiography (DSA) intervention room. These are crucial foundations supporting diagnosis and treatment, enabling patients in Ninh Binh and neighboring provinces to access high-level techniques locally.

At the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Prof. Greg Fox explored the examination and treatment systems and advanced techniques being deployed, such as bronchoscopy, interventional bronchoscopy, tracheobronchial stenting, respiratory function testing, respiratory rehabilitation, and polysomnography. These techniques are deployed to serve the diagnosis and treatment of inpatient and outpatient patients.

During the exchange, Prof. Greg Fox expressed his strong affection for Vietnam and Bach Mai Hospital, while affirming his desire to further promote deep and broad cooperative relations between the University of Sydney and Bach Mai Hospital, particularly in the field of technology development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap expressed the desire to continue expanding cooperation between Bach Mai Hospital and the University of Sydney, aiming toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in 2027. The two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in education, including the research orientation to introduce the Medical and Pharmaceutical training program of the University of Sydney to be taught at Bach Mai University of Medicine and Pharmacy, while also developing online training programs.

In addition, Bach Mai Hospital stands ready to welcome Australian students and doctors to visit, study, and exchange professional expertise in Vietnam, while expressing the hope that Prof. Greg Fox will support and create opportunities for Vietnamese doctors to participate in doctoral and postdoctoral training programs in Australia.

The visit and working session of Prof. Greg Fox at the Ninh Binh facility of Bach Mai Hospital contributes to strengthening the professional connection between Bach Mai Hospital and the University of Sydney, while opening up practical opportunities for cooperation in education, scientific research, technology development, and the exchange of medical human resources between Vietnam and Australia.
