On July 22, at the Ninh Binh facility of Bach Mai Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital held a ceremony to receive medical equipment sponsored by RION Company (Japan) for the Otorhinolaryngology Department. The event marks a new milestone in the strong cooperative relationship between the two units after more than a decade of companionship in the field of audiology, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and training intensive human resources in Viet Nam.

Attending the ceremony, on the side of RION Company were Mr. Watabe Tadayuki, International Sales Director, and Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, representative of RION Company in Viet Nam. On the side of Bach Mai Hospital were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap, Deputy Director of the Hospital; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Cong Dinh, Head of the Otorhinolaryngology Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Ngoc Son, Director of the Intensive Care Center, along with leaders of functional rooms and related units.

Opening the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Cong Dinh reviewed the cooperation journey between Bach Mai Hospital and RION Company since 2015 with the support of the Ministry of Health, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Nara Medical University. The establishment of the Vietnam - Japan Audiology Center has created an important foundation for developing the audiology specialty of the Otorhinolaryngology Department, making Bach Mai Hospital one of the pioneer units in diagnosing, screening, and treating hearing loss pathologies.

According to the report, over the past 10 years, the Vietnam - Japan Audiology Center has effectively promoted the modern equipment system sponsored by RION, serving an average of about 15,000 patient visits per year, deploying many intensive techniques in evaluating hearing function, screening hearing loss in newborns, and consulting on hearing aids. Parallel to medical examination and treatment activities, the two sides have also actively implemented training programs and technology transfer with the participation of experts from Nara Medical University and RION Company, contributing to enhancing the professional capacity for the team of doctors and nurses of Bach Mai Hospital as well as satellite hospitals nationwide.

At the ceremony, RION Company presented Bach Mai Hospital's Ninh Binh facility with a tympanometer valued at 2.5 million Japanese Yen (approximately 400 million VND). This is the second equipment of the same type put into use in Viet Nam, holding special significance in comprehensively evaluating middle ear function, supporting the diagnosis and treatment of otorhinolaryngological pathologies. The equipment will contribute to enhancing the professional capacity of the Otorhinolaryngology Department at the Ninh Binh facility, meeting the increasingly high medical examination and treatment needs of people in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Watabe Tadayuki affirmed that RION always pursues the mission of developing high-precision medical devices to support the medical team in improving the quality of patient care. He emphasized that this equipment donation is not an end but the beginning of a longer-term cooperation phase, in which RION will continue to accompany Bach Mai Hospital in training, technical support, and updating advanced technologies to serve medical examination and treatment work.

On behalf of the Hospital Leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap expressed his appreciation for the contributions of RION Company over the past 10 years. He emphasized that the cooperation between the two sides is a vivid testament to the Viet Nam - Japan friendship in the medical field. The equipment sponsored by RION has been used effectively and operated stably after many years, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment as well as training high-quality human resources.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap also highly appreciated the support of Japanese experts in training, technology transfer, and experience sharing, helping the staff of Bach Mai Hospital continue to spread professional knowledge to the domestic medical system. At the same time, he expressed his desire for the two sides to expand cooperation into areas such as intensive care, emergency, and respiratory; combining the exploitation of Big Data and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to develop advanced medical solutions, bringing practical benefits to patients.

Also at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Ngoc Son, Director of the Intensive Care Center, expressed his desire that the effective cooperation results in the field of audiology will continue to be expanded to other specialties. He said that the Center is aiming to build a "Quiet Intensive Care" model, in which controlling noise and vibration and supporting communication for severe patients, especially elderly patients with hearing impairment, is of great significance. He expects that RION Company will continue to introduce and transfer appropriate technological solutions, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive care for intensive care patients.

Within the framework of the program, representatives of the two units performed the ceremony of presenting and receiving medical equipment, exchanging commemorative gifts, and taking souvenir photos, affirming the determination to continue fostering the sustainable cooperative relationship between Bach Mai Hospital and RION Company.

After more than a decade of companionship, the cooperation between Bach Mai Hospital and RION Company has become an effective international cooperation model in the field of audiology, not only contributing to enhancing professional capacity, training human resources, and transferring techniques, but also bringing practical benefits to tens of thousands of hearing-impaired patients in Viet Nam. Continuing to sponsor equipment for Bach Mai Hospital's Ninh Binh facility is an important foundation for the two sides to open a new phase of cooperation, aiming towards sustainable development, applying modern scientific and technological achievements, and continuously improving the quality of people's healthcare.
