On July 19, 2026, Bach Mai Hospital welcomed a delegation of leaders and experts from Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH), along with representatives from many leading hospitals, universities, and medical enterprises of Taiwan, to visit and work at both the Ha Noi and Ninh Binh campuses.
This is the first international delegation to visit and work at the Ninh Binh campus of Bach Mai Hospital since it officially went into operation, marking the beginning of an integrated international cooperation model between the two of the hospital.
The working delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Chiu-Su Liu, Director of the International Medical Center and Head of the Department of Organ Transplantation at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. Also participating were representatives from the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, along with professors and experts from major hospitals and enterprises operating in the fields of medical artificial intelligence, immune cell therapy, and biomedical technology.
Expanding cooperation in high-tech fields

At the Ha Noi campus, the working session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap, Vice Director of Bach Mai Hospital, with the participation of leaders from numerous specialized centers and institutes.
Both sides introduced their development processes, professional strengths, and strategic orientations, while exchanging experiences on smart hospital development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, cancer treatment using Heavy Ion Therapy and Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), organ transplantation, precision medicine, multi-specialty treatment models, and training of international healthcare professionals.
Representatives of TVGH also shared prominent achievements in organ transplantation, cancer treatment, AI applications in hospital management, as well as experiences in training cooperation and technology transfer with various countries, including Viet Nam.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap highly appreciated the effectiveness of cooperation between the two hospitals over the past period, particularly in the fields of staff training, expert exchange, and professional experience sharing.
On that foundation, Bach Mai Hospital wishes to further deepen cooperative relations with TVGH, while expanding connections and moving towards signing memoranda of understanding with other leading hospitals in Taiwan to form a multilateral cooperation network in training, scientific research, technology transfer, and the development of key specialties.

The Vice Director of the Hospital also introduced the development orientation with 6 strategic pillars including: digital transformation and AI, robotic surgery, organ transplantation, gene therapy, stem cell therapy, and 3D printing technology in medicine. Among them, the Ninh Binh campus is oriented to become a modern specialized medical center, aiming to achieve international quality standards, including JCI accreditation.
The two sides agreed to continue promoting cooperation in training doctors, nurses, and technicians; exchanging experts; scientific research; transferring advanced techniques such as organ transplantation, robotic surgery, heavy ion radiotherapy, BNCT; and sharing experiences in building smart hospitals, exploiting big data, and applying AI in management and treatment.
Towards a multi-campus international cooperation model

Continuing the program, the delegation of experts visited the Ninh Binh campus of Bach Mai Hospital. Welcoming the delegation were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, along with leaders of specialized units.
The delegation surveyed the Emergency Department, Department of Radiology, Intensive Care Unit, and the modern operating room system; and discussed the organizational model, infrastructure planning, and development orientation of the Ninh Binh campus according to international standards.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co shared the vision for developing Bach Mai Hospital in high-tech fields such as organ transplantation, gene therapy, stem cells, CAR-T cells, and robotic surgery. In particular, the hospital aims to strongly develop liver transplantation, expanding living-donor and brain-dead-donor transplantation programs to meet the increasing treatment needs of patients.
The Director of the Hospital also expressed the desire for Taiwanese partners to continue accompanying the hospital in human resource training, technology transfer, and the development of advanced medical specialties. Regarding the field of robotic surgery, Bach Mai Hospital is preparing to invest in a modern system, alongside training the surgical team through international cooperation.
The Taiwanese experts highly appreciated the synchronous planning, modern infrastructure, and development orientation of the Ninh Binh campus of Bach Mai Hospital, while affirming their readiness to coordinate the implementation of training, technology transfer, and scientific research programs in the coming period.

The working delegation also expressed their impression of the favorable geographical location and development potential of Ninh Binh - a locality home to the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a UNESCO-recognized World Cultural and Natural Heritage site. Combining the professional working program with local cultural and landscape experiences left many positive impressions on the members of the delegation.
As the first international delegation to work at both the Ha Noi and Ninh Binh campuses since the new campus came into operation, the visit not only contributed to consolidating the cooperative relationship between Bach Mai Hospital and Taipei Veterans General Hospital and leading medical partners from Taiwan, but also opened up a new international cooperation model within the multi-campus hospital system.
In the coming period, Bach Mai Hospital expects to continue welcoming international partner delegations for professional exchanges, scientific research, and technology transfer at both campuses, gradually affirming the hospital's position on the regional and international medical map.
