On the afternoon of May 11, Bach Mai Hospital hosted a working session and cooperation signing ceremony with Carebot and AIMED Vietnam to promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in lung cancer screening and early detection, while strengthening collaboration in research, training, and medical technology transfer.

Attending the event on behalf of the Czech delegation were Ms. Eva Urbanová from the Department of Economic and Scientific Diplomacy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic; Mr. Jaroslav Zukerstein, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi; Mr. Matěj Misař, CEO of Carebot; Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Director of AIMED Vietnam; along with representatives from Czech enterprises and organizations.

Representing Bach Mai Hospital were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap, Vice Director of the Hospital; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thu Phuong; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Cam Phuong; Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Chief of Office; Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Trang, Deputy Director of the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Institute; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Center for Healthcare Quality Management; together with representatives from various hospital departments and functional units.

During the meeting, Mr. Matěj Misař introduced Carebot’s AI solution designed to support early lung cancer detection through the analysis of chest X-ray and CT images.

According to Carebot representatives, pilot implementation at nine hospitals in the Czech Republic demonstrated that the AI system was able to identify numerous early-stage malignant lung lesions that had previously gone undetected. The technology has contributed to improving screening efficiency, reducing missed diagnoses, and increasing treatment opportunities for patients.

The company emphasized that AI is not intended to replace physicians, but rather to serve as a clinical support tool that enhances diagnostic accuracy and efficiency in medical imaging. Carebot also expressed its desire to strengthen collaboration with Bach Mai Hospital in scientific research, international publications, and the development of healthcare AI models.

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Giap highly appreciated the potential of AI technology in supporting early lung cancer detection as well as many other diseases, particularly in the context of increasing healthcare demand and the vast volume of medical data at Bach Mai Hospital.

According to Dr. Vu Van Giap, AI and big data analytics are currently among the six strategic pillars of Bach Mai Hospital’s development plan for the coming years.

The Vice Director of Bach Mai Hospital also proposed long-term cooperation orientations between the two sides in scientific research, healthcare AI model development, training of IT and medical personnel, expert and trainee exchange programs, as well as expanding collaboration between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in healthcare and public health.

At the same time, Bach Mai Hospital reaffirmed that all AI solutions implemented at the hospital would strictly comply with Vietnamese regulations on data security and patient privacy protection.

Within the framework of the program, representatives of Bach Mai Hospital, Carebot, and AIMED Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement, laying the foundation for piloting and integrating the Carebot AI solution into the hospital’s PACS system in the near future.

Under the agreement, the parties will coordinate in deploying AI-assisted medical imaging analysis solutions, user training, technical integration, and operational support during both the pilot phase and practical implementation.

The working session and signing ceremony further reaffirmed Bach Mai Hospital’s strategic orientation toward accelerating digital transformation, applying high technology, and expanding international cooperation, with the goal of improving the quality of diagnosis, treatment, and healthcare services for the people.
