On May 6, 2026, Bach Mai Hospital hosted a working session with a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the Embassy of the United States in Vietnam, and leading U.S. corporations and enterprises in healthcare, technology, and pharmaceuticals. The meeting focused on potential cooperation in healthcare digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, smart hospital development, and enhancement of advanced medical capabilities.

The U.S. delegation was led by Mr. John Goyer, Executive Director for Asia and Southeast Asia at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The delegation also included representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam and executives from major corporations such as Intel, Medtronic, Siemens Healthineers, Abbott, Roche, Pfizer, Bristol Myers Squibb, Beckman Coulter, and Danaher.

Representing Bach Mai Hospital were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of the Hospital, along with leaders from the hospital’s institutes, centers, departments, and functional units.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co emphasized that, as Vietnam accelerates the development of science and technology, digital transformation, and specialized medical centers under the direction of the Party and Government, Bach Mai Hospital has identified its strategic goal of becoming a model smart hospital in Vietnam, gradually approaching international standards.

The Hospital Director noted that with approximately 8,500 outpatient visits and 4,000–4,500 inpatients daily, combined with a vast healthcare database that is being comprehensively digitized, Bach Mai Hospital possesses significant potential for the development of AI applications, Big Data, precision medicine, smart hospital management, and advanced scientific research.

During the discussions, representatives from U.S. enterprises expressed their strong impression of Bach Mai Hospital’s leading role, professional expertise, and ambitious orientation toward high technology and healthcare digital transformation. The parties exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including AI in healthcare, data infrastructure, high-tech medical equipment, smart hospital models, clinical research, workforce training, emergency and critical care, precision medicine, and solutions to improve hospital operational efficiency.

Representatives from Intel discussed opportunities for collaboration in optimizing AI and healthcare data ecosystems. Meanwhile, Medtronic, Siemens Healthineers, Roche, Abbott, and other corporations shared proposals related to advanced medical technologies, medical equipment procurement models, clinical research, technology governance, and expanding Vietnamese patients’ access to cutting-edge healthcare solutions.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Co also stressed that modern healthcare development must go hand in hand with transparency, integrity, and governance standardization in line with international practices. He expressed his hope that U.S. enterprises would continue accompanying Bach Mai Hospital in training high-quality human resources, developing biomedical engineering capacity, transferring technology, conducting scientific research, applying AI, and building an innovation ecosystem in healthcare.

The meeting took place in an open, candid, and substantive atmosphere, demonstrating the strong commitment of both sides to promoting in-depth healthcare cooperation programs. These efforts are expected to contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, advancing healthcare science and technology, and further strengthening the Vietnam–U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in healthcare and public health.
