Laying the foundation for the journey to enhance quality and patient safety

After the first month of implementing the PRIME Program, Bach Mai Hospital has focused on reviewing and standardizing processes; organizing training; implementing practices; and initially evaluating indicators related to medication safety, injection safety, infusion care, and infection control.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Dr. Bui Minh Thu, Acting Head of the Department of Nursing and Patient Care - Center for Medical Examination and Treatment Quality Management, emphasized that the working session is an opportunity for the Hospital to genuinely evaluate the achieved results, identify gaps during implementation, and receive professional recommendations from JCI experts.

English: "The goal is to gradually integrate patient safety standards into routine practice, thereby contributing to improving the quality of care and treatment at Bach Mai Hospital," Dr. Bui Minh Thu shared.

On behalf of the Hospital Board of Directors, Dr. Bui Minh Thu expressed sincere gratitude for the companionship of BD Vietnam and JCI experts, while expressing the desire to continue receiving support and cooperation in the subsequent phases of the program.

Sharing at the working session, Dr. Monnie Abraham - a JCI expert, shared her joy in accompanying Bach Mai Hospital in the PRIME Program. As someone who has participated in the program from the very beginning, she looks forward to continuing to share experience and support the Hospital over the next 6 months.

"I very much look forward to the upcoming six months of companionship and supporting the Hospital on its journey to make quality and patient safety a top priority," Dr. Monnie Abraham shared.

Update on progress and results of the first month of PRIME implementation

At the program, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong Giang - Deputy Head of the Department of Nursing and Patient Care, Center for Medical Examination and Treatment Quality Management presented a report updating the results of the first month of implementing the PRIME Program.

The report focused on an overview of the scope and roadmap for implementing PRIME at the Hospital; progress in developing and finalizing procedures; training activities; related indicators; initial results; and issues that need continued improvement in focus areas.

Regular evaluations help the Hospital identify effectively implemented contents, while recognizing areas that need further consolidation, ensuring consistency among procedures, training, and clinical practice.

Dr. Monnie Abraham directly answered the issues of concern to the delegates, while discussing points to note during the process of standardizing and maintaining safe practices.

The discussion session took place openly, focusing on practical issues during the implementation process. Through this, units gained professional perspectives and international experience to continue improving quality improvement activities.

The PRIME Program is one of the activities demonstrating the orientation of Bach Mai Hospital in continuously improving quality, standardizing practices, and enhancing patient safety.

The results of the first month are the basis for the Hospital to continue implementing activities in the following months, strengthening coordination between departments, rooms, and related units; while maintaining evaluation, supervision, and continuous improvement, gradually making safe practices a routine part of medical examination and treatment activities.
